The Indian Senior Citizens Centre is a Charity Registered (1040167) BME Voluntary organisation which provides culturally sensitive Day Resource Services for Indian Older People of city-wide Manchester, Trafford, Stockport, Bury and Salford.

We started in 1983 in Withington (Gandhi Hall) and was established there in 1988. After running voluntarily for 9 years, it was recognised by Local Authority and Health Authority in 1992, they started giving some grants.

After getting 2 grants from the National Lottery Charities Board, we bought this present premises and delivered our numerous services efficiently and effectively.

The ISCC was opened in 1988 to serve as a Day Centre for the use of the senior members of the Indian community in Greater Manchester

What We Do

Our Vibrant Community

Our present membership is about 250 and daily average attendance is between 100 to 200. We open Mondays /Wednesday/Thursday, and our main aim is to provide culturally sensitive Day Resource services, including a luncheon club, recreational facilities, social activities, entertainment games, outings, visits, preventative health care, rehabilitation facilities i.e. chiropody, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and exercise classes.

Membership Eligibility and Registration

Any Indian elderly from the contracted district can request to become a member by filling in our membership form and paying the membership fee of £15.00, subject to change yearly. Our membership year is 1ST April to 31 March.

Code of Conduct

The Indian Senior Citizens Centre sets out below the “Code of Good Practices” required as a condition of membership.

The ISCC members will always comply with following general guidelines.

  • Act in Good Faith. And Treat others equally and with respect.
  • Members must not act in a way which would bring the ISCC into disrepute.
  • Health and Safety for all is paramount and Smoking is prohibited inside the building.
  • Members must not engage themselves in any form of coercion against any other members, office bearers of the Management Committee or Staff of the ISCC.
  • Any complaints made against anyone covered by this Code of Conduct will be handled in accordance with ISCC’s procedure of handling such complaints.
  • Media/PR contact should be discussed, if possible, in advance with the Chair. Members should make sure their comments are accurate, well considered and well informed.
